COUNTYBANK GIVES BACK TO GREENWOOD

Greenwood, SC — Countybank and the Trustees for Countybank Foundation are pleased to announce that the Foundation awarded more than $137,000 to Greenwood charities and non-profit organizations during 2002.

“Since September 11th, non-profits have been hit particularly hard, with overall donations at an all-time low,” said R. Thornwell Dunlap, Jr., chairman of Countybank. “Through contributions by Countybank and the Countybank Foundation, organizations can continue to provide their needed services to so many in our community.”

Countybank Foundation was established in 1971 to support local collegiate scholarships and area non-profits including civic, cultural, educational and health care organizations. Yearly contributions are made based on an organization’s mission and needs. Among the more than 20 recipients in 2002 were Greater Greenwood United Ministries, Self Regional Healthcare Foundation, Lander University, Piedmont Agency on Aging and Emerald Center.

"Countybank has been a substantial supporter of our School of Business for many years,” said Eleanor Teal, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of The Lander Foundation. “Their scholarship and program endowment assistance helps Lander grow business professionals, one student at a time. We are particularly pleased that many of our business graduates have become successful leaders at Countybank."

“Countybank has been a longtime friend and loyal supporter of Piedmont Agency on Aging,” said Kathy Hendricks-Dublin, executive director. “They played a vital role in the success of our 2002 fundraiser, the Piedmont Classic Golf Tournament, which raised funds to purchase a mini-bus for our Lifetime Discoveries Daycare project.”

Countybank has served the Greenwood community since 1933. With three full-service locations, five automatic teller machines, local trust services, mortgage lending and investment and insurance services, Countybank and its subsidiaries provide customers with the tools to achieve their financial goals.
